The delegation from the UK, headed by Director for the Western Balkans in the Foreign Office, Andree Page today visited the Vetevendosje Movement, where they were hosted by the head of this subject, Albin Kurti and other Movement figures.
Kurti announced the delegation for recent developments in Kosovo with particular focus on the socio-economic situation, lack of economic development, high unemployment rates, especially among women and young people, the need for reforming the justice system and the enormous need to connect the educational system to the economy.
On the other hand, Page showed the United Kingdom's interest in helping Kosovo in the area of economic development through supporting entrepreneurship among young people of particular interest in cyber science and digitalisation, and in creating opportunities for young people not to leave the country.
Also, Page reported on doubling funds that shared the United Kingdom for the Western Balkans region and doubling experts to help combat corruption and organised crime and cyber crime.
Among the other issues discussed was the Berlin Process, the achievements and areas to focus on in the future where Kurti suggested that the Berlin Process should initiate a fund for similar economic development for the Balkans, such as the Marshall Plan for Europe with particular focus in divided cities.
As for dialogue with Serbia, Page reiterated the position of the United Kingdom, which opposes the initiative to change borders.
While Kurti reiterated the Vetevendosje Movement's stance, for an open-up dialogue for development as a way of integration and progress.
