The defence minister was honoured for this meeting and praised Hasani for the successes of Kosovo athletes, who make us proud.
The minister further briefed KOK officials about the KSF transition process and the achievements during the first 120-day phase following the adoption of laws for the Ministry of Defence and KSF. The meeting discussed the establishment of KOK's co-operation with KSF in the sports field. This would also affect the masovizing of sports on the young people of our country.
President Hasani voiced readiness for the KOK to support the Ministry of Defence and KSF in organising KSF members in clubs in various sports disciplines, organising races, and in establishing the military sports federation within the KSF.
The KSF in its ranks has prepared athletes who can successfully compete in international competitions.
Following the good practices of some armies in Europe, President Hasani proposed that some of Kosovo elite athletes be allowed to become members of the KSF.
Minister Berisha endorsed this idea and pledged that the most suitable modalisation would be researched for elite athletes to honour the KSF as members in uniform, in line with legislation and procedures in force.
Minister Berisha and KOK President Hasani agreed that without delay the working groups on both sides will be established to draft a memorandum of co-operation aimed at deepening institutional co-operation between the Ministry of Defence and the Kosovo Olympic Committee.
