In an exclusive interview for Time, given during his visit to Pristina on Thursday, General Wolters says his impression of the situation in Kosovo is that calm reigns, and is expressed with satisfaction with the fulfillment of the KFOR mission, which is maintaining a safe and secure environment.
Asked whether Serbia poses a threat to Kosovo, the American general says he is not sure whether he would have characterised the situation as well, but stresses that the situation on the ground is calm and communication lines between KFOR and Belgrade are open to any event.
Asked even about the possible Russian threat, General Wolters talks about the readiness of KFOR and NATO to respond to all such challenges, which he seems to see mainly in the segment of dezinformation and propaganda.
But he is clear about any kind of threat Kosovo can face.
“KFOR is willing, willing and able to adapt and work against any kind of potential action that could happen in the region”, says General Wolters, who came to the post at the helm of NATO forces just two months ago.
In the interview, General Wolters also spoke of the KSF transition process, the impact Kosovo-Serbia dialogue has on the KFOR mission, as well as the future of the peacekeeping mission.
