EU opens representation office in Kuwait

The European Union has opened today a diplomatic mission in Kuwait, which increases the presence of a delegation in the region, the European Foreign Affairs Service said today.
At the opening ceremony, European diplomacy chief Federica Moghrini said the opening of the representative office was a sign that the EU and Kuwait have approached in recent years.
At the moment of regional and global tensions, Kuwait is the voice of reason and power of peace. This is what made us natural partners in these difficult times,” said Moghrin.
She noted that this is the third representation in the Gulf region, besides Riyadh and Abu Dhabit, and that she will be responsible for relations with Qatar.
“I consider this message to be a message to the entire EU region is strengthening its presence and engagement in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf, since we are neighbours, we share the region and we are united”, Moghrini said.
Qatar Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Halid el Hamad el Sabah attended the opening ceremony.
