In a response to this debate over the State Council of Quality decision, the EU says education in Kosovo is their priority and the improvement of education in the country is absolutely necessary.
July 15th, State Quality Council ( KSC, has made a decision to stop accrediting three public universities and four private colleges. This decision has an impact on student registration for the 2019/2020 academic year. We understand that these universities will continue to operate, and that students now enrolled in other years will continue their new academic year without interruption. This decision was difficult but fair, and in line with the Agency's mandate to ensure quality education. The EU supports the role and independence of the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation”, the EU Office writes.
This response has drawn political class warnings in Kosovo not to be included in these decisions.
That was after Prime Minister Haradinaj, shortly after making that decision, had warned he would step in not to implement that decision.
Its “decisions should be respected by all sides of the interest, especially those on the political level. What is at stake is the goal of achieving quality higher education for all students in Kosovo. This decision is hoping to pave the way for these universities to improve the quality of their performance and services to students. The EU has been committed for many years to quality education and continues its support for Kosovo in the future”, the EU response reported. /Periscopi
