Yesterday Albanian citizens across the country voted to elect the 61 mayors who will lead for the past four years. The vote counting process continued throughout the night without problems.
Erion Veliaj is close to a second term. So far, 395 ballot boxes from 919 total have been counted for Tirana City.
Of the votes counted so far, Veliaj has received 64613 votes, while his opponent, Arben Skenderaj, received 4253 votes.
Veliaj has split significantly with his rival.
