The 5.4 and 5.9-degree Ricter earthquakes were recorded in the province of Batane, Archipelag in the northern part of this state. Earthquakes occurred in the early hours of Saturday.
The province's president, Raul De Saigon, said that about 60 people have been injured by these earth quakes. Many people were in their homes when earthquakes occurred because most were asleep.
Despite two earthquakes, authorities have issued no tsunami alarm.
In some photos published by the Filipina Red Cross, houses destroyed and severely damaged are seen.
The Philippines extends to the so-called “Fire Ring”, which is a highly seismic activity area. Most earthquakes occur in this part of the world in all periods of the year, writes “BBC”
