The broken road and lack of services, lower the number of tourists in the Blue Eye

The oval - shaped source surrounded by a dense crown of vegetation and hundreds of years of sand trees is the largest among 18 springs flowing from the foot of the broad mountain.

Suada Basha manager of the protection zone's tourist information office says visitors need outdoor activities. Although tent construction is allowed, all other services are missing from toilets, showers, or food.

Svenja and her boyfriend from Poland are writing cards to friends at an angle inside the park. They seem satisfied with the visit and with Albania, but draw attention to the missing services.

We're writing to family and friends. It's beautiful. All the visit to Albania was a pleasant discovery, but places like this can be met with services. The road was dusty and you can only walk here for a few minutes. There's only to see, there's not much to do.”, they say.

The same concern for lack of services and the ruined road also raises a family of Albanians visiting the nature park for the first time.

Despite the park's rare natural beauty, its first confrontation is problematic. The bad smell and pollution accumulated for years at the park's entrance lake is leading the list of visitors' complaints.

The changes that came after administration reorganizing and putting the park under the dependence of the Protected Areas Agency dictated new regulations for the park, including the ban on immersion in the source that seems almost impossible despite the signal that prevents swimming and patrolling several times a day by specialists.

It seems that half the visitors come to the Green Eye to sink into the waters of his springs. / TCh/
