A protest has been held in Gjakova today, where the release of former U fighter has been requested CK's Tomor Morina, who was arrested last week at the Blaza border checkpoint under Interpol arrest warrants. Morina is wanted by Serbia under suspicion that she has committed war crimes against Serb civilians in Kosovo.

Family and numerous citizens have demanded that Kosovo institutions work harder for North Macedonia to release Morina as soon as possible.

During the protest, Gjakova Mayor Ardian Gjini has indicated that outgoing Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has announced he has had talks with Macedonian authorities and has been promised that they will be careful in this case.

Each of us today has a anger, and quite rightly, we have left 20 years after the war, and those who actually committed crimes seek to condemn us. All the people who are here today, with this feeling, send a message that we want Tomor, our fellow warrior, the son of Gjakova, to his own home as soon as possible, to his friends and family. We can hardly tell me more about the details, but the prime minister has told me that he can confirm that he's had conversations at the highest level, we'll see more quickly, but these are also sensitive issues. The prime minister has received promises that authorities of Macedonia will be overly cautious, have some legal issues, but will be careful. That's what I talked about yesterday and today, even in the past few days. We can't calm down until Tomor is here, but I have a conviction that the authorities of Northern Macedonia will not do anything that nobody in the world did, he said.

On behalf of Tomor Morina's family, he spoke to Gurar Red Dobruna, who said they were more concerned about Tomor today than he was in the war.

He said an exemplary fighter like Tomor Morina should be strongly protected by Kosovo institutions.

On behalf of Tomor's family, we're worried about the fate of Tooor, we're more concerned today than yesterday when he was in the war, because the one who experienced Slavic prisons well understands this feeling of ours. Much is being said now that we have 100 per cent state, 100 per cent freedom, but freedom is not complete if the freedom of movement of Kosovo citizens has not been raised to the end. They're talking of defending the values of war, and now I want to tell you whether it's worth more than an exemplary warrior like Tomor Morina, when he responded to the invitation he left for war, ended up fighting, handed over his uniform with honor, and this value should be protected not by our country, but powerfully protected institutionally. Reactions from our state are running from Kosovo, as from Albania. Ironically Milosevic's fate 20 years ago ordered that he end the cannons on Gjakova and destroy this city for many reasons. Ironically, Milosevic's lists still remain hostage to the free movement of our citizens”, he said.

And the chairman of O The VL UCK branch in Gjakova Sadri Hoxha said they appealed to the Foreign Affairs Ministry to deal with the case, so that Tomor Morina can return to the family as soon as possible.

We today have come out to say no to Tomor Morina's extradition, not to Serbia we have told the Kosovo Liberation Army in 1999 and we will say no for the rest of our lives. We trust our institutions to do for every soldier, for every citizen. I appeal that Kosovo's foreign minister handle this issue, and that we don't come out on the road like we've been dating 20 years for the injustices Serbia has committed. I prefer that as soon as he returns to his home, that the UCK has not committed crimes as Serbia has committed, we have fought a clean war, a liberation war”, he said.

Serbia's state has submitted the request to Northern Macedonia for the extradition of Tomor Morina, but the final decision on this request will be made by the Macedonian Justice Minister.
