ARKEPs extends frequency licenses to Telekom and IPKO for another 20 years

ARKEP Board Chairman Kreshnik Gashi said after about 18 months of analysis The ARKEP has made the decision that even for the next 20 years, the right to use universal resource operators Kosovo Telekom and IPKO is granted.

Both of these operators have applied to the Kosovo regulator at ARKEP for use of the frequent resources they have available for the next 20 years. A The RKEP in analysis of their requirements and in compliance with the laws of the Republic of Kosovo, but also with the regulations and directives of the European Union, has approved the requirements of these two mobile operators for continued use of universal resources for the next 20 years for Kosovo Telekom in capacity for 2,500 megaherc in the 900 megaherc generation, as well as 2 x 25 in the 1800 megaherc generation. So there are these universal resources that Kosovo Telecom has had available so far, as well as the continuation of the use of universal resources for the IPKO operator in the capacity of 2 x 10 megaherc, and 2 x 20 megaherc in generations 900 to 1800 megaherc<1>, Gashi said.

The first of the Electronic and Post Communications Regulatory Authority said Kosovo Telekom for Frequency resources would pay 15.7m euros, while IPKO around 11.7m euros.

The French resource value that operators will pay for these capacities for Kosovo Telecom, divided into 10 tranches, is somewhere around 15.7m euros, while for the IPKO operator it is about 11.7 million depending on the resources available to”, Gashi said.

Gashi also said the ARKEP would take other steps to provide additional resources in order to develop the telecommunications sector in Kosovo.
