Albanians are more exposed to crimes. Public data from the Statistics Institute in the past four years speaks of an increase of about 12.7% of the number of criminal acts, which has come to a gradual increase from 2015 to 2018.
In 2015, 30,584 total criminal acts were recorded, and four years later, we have about 4,000 more crimes.
This growing trend is also translated into more authors responsible for committing crimes. In three years, the number of perpetrators has increased by about 14%.
However, 2015, it is represented by a higher number of crimes than 2016 or even 2017. For some 30,500 criminal acts, alleged perpetrators of police recorded 37,112 - some 2,500 authors less than 2018.
In other words, for every 72 Albanian residents in 2018, we have an author who committed one or several criminal acts.
The resulting crimes also have a high rate of people affected or remained damaged by various criminal acts, such as murder, theft, traffic violations, injuries, fraud, domestic violence, and a host of other crimes.
The number of people who have been injured or victims of these crimes has been dropping by about 1,000 people compared last year to 2015.
In the last three years, however, from 2016 to 2018, some of the crimes that directly affect people's lives have marked significant reductions.
The murders have dropped by 28%, the attempted murders have dropped by 13.6%, and auto thefts have decreased by 15.4%.
