TVS for animal import from July 1st only 8 per cent

Finance Minister Lulzim Rafuna's adviser to Kosova Prees says that the animals imported to Kosovo are free from customs tax or 10 per cent degrees, while MF Minister Bedri Hamza, on the basis of competencies the law allows for taxing added value, has made the decision since July 1st of the coming months to scale TVs for animal imports from 18 per cent to 8 per cent.

Rafuna says that during analyses at the Ministry of Finance, it has been found that even in the agriculture sector respectively, the importation of animals must be released from customs tax in order to enable all citizens and farmers to have as much cost to import animals in our country in order to expand their production capacities.

The private sector is a bearer of economic development, for this reason every three months a decision has been made to release customs and excise taxes... As for the recent decision, which has been made to free animals from customs taxes, is in force, while in terms of value added tax, the decision is expected to enter into force early July. Then we in the Kosovo Parliament have a set of tax laws, where we present a lot of releases, especially at the value added tax, the law which is waiting to be voted in the first reading, because the resentment of the law has been maintained, and all of these have passed”, Rafuna claims.

Rafuna says the benefits from customs release to escalation of VAT are great for production businesses. According to him, by the beginning of the 2018 year, a decision has been made to free customs tax and excise taxes for production businesses in Kosovo. These releases have to do with raw materials, half products, production lines, TI equipment, aids that participate in the production process and spare parts for production lines.

“Licenses from customs tax and VAT have significantly impacted productivity growth, so far from the releases have benefited over 400 production businesses or the total amount of releases since September 130m euros last year, which means these tools have remained in businesses to expand their capacities. While the total value of goods that have been released is 607m euros”, he says.

While agricultural farmers who are importers of animals have welcomed this government decision.
