Turkey says it will counter all possible US sanctions due to Russia's purchase of S-400 defence missiles.
Defending this decision by Turkey, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told the Anadolu news agency today that Turkey can choose its defence equipment as “an independent and free state”.
US Congress Commission Chairmans Warn Turkey
Leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Commission and the Commission for Armed Forces warned Turkey on Tuesday that it risks facing severe sanctions if it implements the purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems.
They clarified that by the end of this year, Turkey will either have advanced F-35 warplanes on its territory, or Russian S-400 missiles.
