He gave this proposal through a tweet, saying he could meet with the dictator of North Korea during the visit he will make to South Korea after leaving the G20 meeting in Osaka, Japan.
While I'm there, if Chief Kim sees this, I'd meet him in the disarmed border zone just to shake his hand and say hello to”, it says in the U.S. President's post.
North Korea responded to this invitation through the state news agency. We appreciate this as a very interesting proposal, but we have not yet accepted the official invitation for such a” meeting, North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Choi Son Hui reportedly said through this agency.
On the other hand, South Korean officials also said there is nothing confirmed about this meeting, adding: our “position remains unchanged. We hope that there will be dialogue between the United States and North Korea”, says the South Korean Presidency statement, writes the Guardian”.
