Kim Jong-nam, North Korean leader's half-brother, Kim Jong, was a CIA spy before he was killed in Malaysia in 2017, claims a report.
Citing a “person who has knowledge of the case”, the Wall Street Journal quoted Periscopi as saying that “had a connection” between Kim Jong-nam and the CIA, adding that many details of his relationship with the US intelligence agency remain unclear.
According to the prestigious American newspaper Kim had travelled to Malaysia in February 2017 to meet with his CIA contacts, although this may not have been the sole purpose of his trip.
But, the paper said Kim, who was once the favourite to succeed his father, Kim Jong-ilin, probably could not shed so much light on the internal policies of the communist regime, reports The Guardian, translates Periscopi.
Some former American officials said that the half-brother who had lived outside North Korea for many years had no power base in the Pyongyang, and it was impossible to provide details on his country's secret affairs,”, the report said.
Two women were accused of poisoning Kim Jong-nam by throwing VX juice, a forbidden chemical weapon. /Periscope
