The city of Caissiadores (centre) registered a day earlier as the country's hottest area of 35.7 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature previously marked for June in Lithuania.
According to scientists, extreme weather conditions are partly as a result of climate change, Arsh notes.
Lithuania has experienced heat waves before, but now the cases are more frequent and extreme because of climate change, Donatas Valuika, climate researcher at Vilnius University, told the media.
