Mitrovica's Sylani neighbourhood residents today have protested in front of the municipality against building a mosque in their neighbourhood.
These protesters have said they are seeking immediate revocation of mosque construction permits in their neighbourhood, until an agreement is reached between the two sides.
Some of the organisers of this protest met with Mitrovica municipality deputy head Faruk Mujka and then shares all their demands with the media through a letter.
The residents of Mitrovica are reportedly seeking to find a solution for building an ambulance and school for low educational level.
This protest has come after residents have seen investors start construction works Friday.
According to the residents, several individuals have come and threatened them by saying that no one dares interrupt the work.
The same residents of the mosque in the Sylani neighbourhood had asked for a petition two years ago, and in June 2017 they had received the official letter from the Directorate of Urbanisation in Mitrovica that no work would be done in that area without agreement between the parties.
According to residents, the approval for the construction of this mosque has been granted by the hoja Gazmend Mehmeti, for whom they have asked that approval be refused by the Islamic Community of Kosovo.
