U.S. products intended to be sold via Kosovo to Europe

Establishment of the American economic zone was made with a Kosovo Government decision a year ago, but has not yet been functional. The location of this area is in Gjakova and has an area of over 500 hectares of land.

The executive director of the American Economic Ode in Kosovo, Arian Zeka, told Radio Free Europe that the American economic zone has attracted the attention of several American companies to extend their capital to Kosovo.

“Like the American Economic Ode in Kosovo now, several years ago we promote before potential American investors this idea of exploiting Kosovo as an area where they could produce their products and then export the same to the European market to the market of 500 million European Union consumers. This would also come at an appropriate moment when free trade between the EU and the US is not at the proper level”, Zeka said.

The American economic zone would be a good opportunity to attract these potential American investors. Based on the information we have this (American economic area) has raised the enthusiasm of companies, especially from the U.S. State of Iowa to come and settle in the American economic zone, whenever it functions and I hope that this will happen as soon as we can put it on the ground, Zeka noted.

The American Economic Oda in Kosovo has already given recommendations about this economic area, and as such they have been handed over to competent authorities.

Zeka adds that Kosovo as a small market cannot be very attractive to investors, so according to him, economic facilities should be created. Hence, even recommendations made by the Economic Oda should be experienced.
