The opposition in Albania warns that it will protest every day, by Sunday and June 30th, the date the government has decided to enter the election even after the opposition boycott.
The decision was made shortly after the end of the ninth national protest, following the opposition leader Lulzim Basha's meeting with the allies of the Democratic Party.
For the first time on Friday evening, Basha articulated in his speech the newest condition for exits from the crisis: bringing to justice the people who have appeared on the files of 184 and 339.
We owe this deep crisis to Albanians not to simply close it with a political agreement based on deals. This political crisis is needed and will be closed, not on deals, but on principles. And today I want to make it clear and I expect that the first principle is to be brought to justice and behind the prison bars of those who were robbed of the Albanian vote” stated the Democrat leader, Basha.
As in past protests, he stressed, “will have no negotiations with Edi Rama prime minister”.
Basha and his allies decided that starting Monday (24.05) they will revote the electors' lists.
At a time not entirely of habit, around 8:00 last night, in strict security measures and numerous police forces, protesters have started protesting at their main call: “Rama flees”.
Barabait's “March is selected to be the symbol of the June 21st protestor, along with a symbolic statue of the prime minister, which coincided with that of former dictator Hoxha.
Appeals to peaceful protestor
Earlier, foreign embassies in Albania had filed appeals to peaceful and violent protesters. The freedom of gatherings and the right to demonstrate peacefully are the columns of every democracy. While violence of any kind is unacceptable!
In view of today's announced demonstration, I urge all participants to respect the laws in force. Of the organisers I expect to engage with all possibilities for a peaceful protest development, as well as to be up to their responsibility through public appeal for peaceful protests” ) reacted slightly before protest German Ambassador to Tirana Susan Schütz.
