Finance Minister Bedri Hamza stressed that co-operation with regional countries is taking place with ministers' meetings and other political levels, where agreements have been reached by the Berlin Summit, and others.
Our <x0 objectives should be the same and common with the region to give a boost to integration processes towards EU countries to enable free movement of goods and people. In addition to inflows and ease of trade and combating crime, customs should add effective control to the elimination of barriers and the establishment of capacity”, Hamza said.
Minister Hamza added that this regional co-operation will be a good opportunity for more sustainable development and law enforcement in the focus of combating smuggling and organised crime. According to him, these regional meetings are very productive.
British Ambassador to Kosovo Ruairi O'Connell said Great Britain enjoys any success achieved against organised crime and corruption.
“Continue to mark progress in facilitating free trade circulation and people. We know it's hard, but we're here to help you”, O'Connell said.
Kosovo Customs Director Bahri Berisha said customs have an important role for revenues, for informal economy, so regional co-operation is necessary for even safer borders.
“Co-operation also contributes to regional, national and international security”, Berisha said.
Participants at the meeting were general directors of the countries of the region, representatives from the World Customs Organisation and representatives from Great Britain Customs.
