Meta: Postponing Elections, Possible for Parts to Dialogue

Albania's President, Ilir Meta, has again reacted to his decision to cancel the June 30th elections. In a statement to the media, he said the goal of delaying the elections is aimed at calming the situation and calling for dialogue between the parties.

The resolution of the Republic's president to cancel the election date of June 30th took ten days to calm the situation and create opportunities for dialogue, which would normalise the political situation and create the possibility for a new date of local elections, inclusive and democratic.

I again point out that it is by no means the moment for strength evidence, for divisive and provocative rhetoric, but for high caution and accountability for the country's national interests and the continuation of European integration, which is the national goal of all Albanians.
