The chairman of the Vetevendosje Movement said schooling in Kosovo has never been more expensive or weaker.
At the session under way on the situation in education and MAST's decisions in the Republic of Kosovo, Kurti expressed his concerns about the test results P The ISA, which it said has testified that Kosovo, with 146 points below the average of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, remains at the bottom of the ranking.
Since 40 points are like a year of schooling, he said that Kosovo's senior is at the level of the semester.
He said education in Kosovo is for educators, not students, as most of the budget goes to salaries.
We don't have a PISA test for professors and educators, because we don't know how we'd rank there. 68 per cent of Kosovo students do not reach level 2 to the overall degree of science, 77 per cent in reading and 78 per cent of mathematics. So approximately 3&4 have no basic knowledge. Kosovo has half a million people under 15. We should be very concerned about him when we consider the latest results of the PISA for 15-year-olds”, he said.
Kurt also spoke of lack of training as he added that there are many who have not studied about.
According to him, despite their schooling, young people are working in other fields, which takes time to cooperate with them in the workplace.
“Mbiponding with several professions, and lack in some others, are also normalised phenomena in this skills gap. For example, 52 per cent of students in higher education study social sciences, business or law, and only 2 per cent agriculture, although agriculture made up 10 per cent of the domestic gross product in Kosovo... It is therefore no accident that over 90 per cent of graduates at American University (RIT) are employed or have their own businesses”, Kurti said.
