Kosovo's public debt totals 1.1 billion euros

The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo has announced the fiscal sector in TM1 2019 was marked by increased revenues and a reduction in budget expenditures of 10.4 per cent, respectively -4.5 per cent. “Borge public at TM1 2019 has reached 1.1 billion euros, which is for 8.5 per cent higher compared to TM1 2018. The increase in public debt in Kosovo is attributed to increased domestic debt as public external debt was characterised by decline. As a percentage of the BPV, public debt has reached 16.3 per cent from 16.1 per cent as far as TM1 2018.”, reports RTKlive's three-month assessment of macroeconomic developments.
According to the CEC, in the first two months of 2019, the external sector has been characterised with annual growth of the current account deficit by 38.2 percent.
This growth of the current account deficit was the result of increased goods deficit, as well as reduced quality services and primary income, while the balance of secondary incomes marked growth. Within the balance of payments, remittances and foreign direct investments (IHD) marked annual growth of 4.5 per cent, respectively, 54.9 per cent”, the report says.
