What Kosovars Think of Elections in Albania

In the last 30 years, the June 30th elections are the first in Albania, in which the opposition does not participate. Citizens in Kosovo are seeing them as communist, harmful elections for the country. For what they say, the Government of Parliament would have to agree on the date of the elections, because they are thus damaging the people.

Selim Neziraj for Kosova Prees, says these elections, which are being held in Albania, for the election of mayors, are a kind of mixture among the people.

I first believe that this should be a complete decision of the entire government, of the whole state, of the Parliament to negotiate, what dates they set, but while they're not in agreement, then I believe that this is actually kind of a mix of people, they don't know who to follow, who to believe. There is only one confusion among the people”, he says.

Whitee, who is a citizen of Albania, says these elections are not fair.

Very weak, there is no choice without a party, only the Socialist Party has no good and fair elections, unless they are united it can have justice... it has to go out but there is no fair choice, only one has nothing to do with”, he says.

He calls this national madness, which he says should not be held at all.

“My opinion should not be kept, because there is no agreement between parties that compete. This is a monoism, an incorrigible, not to call it a national madness... Surely not, in this way no, it's also been necessary for citizens there to get organized and not to come out, it's not this democratic choice, it's monstrous to me”, he says.

For this national madness, as he calls it, he says the governing bodies themselves are to blame.

Someone else says these elections are a disgrace to Albania.

The elections have been made by Edi Rama, not only by party elections, this has been taken for Albania, 100 years, and how many years of state. This is a big deal for the Albanian people”, he says.

That these choices are harmful, so is Avdi Tasholli.

Very harmful, Albania, who is leading the horror... Absolutely not, never, how do they vote”, he said.

Otherwise, local elections for 61 mayors are being held in Albania today. In these 30 years, these are the first elections the largest opposition in the country does not participate.

This date today has been accompanied by debates and fierce clashes between parties, the government, the opposition, the president, but also international ones, who have held strong positions and have supported elections to be held today, despite that the head of state has decreed another day, 13 October for local elections in consultations only with opposition parties, after Prime Minister Rama failed to meet.

These elections have opposed the opposition today through a protest, where citizens have called against dictatorship and Prime Minister Rama.
