Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Kadri Veselini has removed from all party and institutional positions today all PDK officials with charges confirmed by the justice institutions.

At a conference with journalists, leader of The PDK announced that today it has freed all PDK appointees who have the indictment and who hold positions in public institutions.

With this decision by PDK chairman Kadri Veseli, Minister of Innovation and Intervention Besim Beqaj, KSF deputy minister Agim Ceku and Nijazi Kryeziu, who are in judicial process, have been relieved today.

“In the new mandate as head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, I have defined our basic priorities as a modern party with democratic and Western profiles. At the beginning of this week, I have pledged that I will be strongly engaged in the fight against corruption, nepotism and disgusting phenomena of abuse. This is what citizens are expecting from us, because they are full of words and want to see concrete action. There is no option but to act. And, we're setting a new standard of ethics. First we start with ourselves, and then this standard we'll stretch to every segment. Today, I stand before you to testify that we stand firm in this battle. Showing my commitment and vision as the head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, I have decided that: Political appointees from the PDK ranks to Kosovo public institutions, which have charges that are linked to abuse of official position, corruption, or nepotism, to release functions immediately”, Wessel has said.

This is a decision and a promise held by PDK leader Kadri Veselin, who has warned two days ago at the Kosovo Democratic Party's party Convention, where he assured all citizens that he would not allow any people with charges of corruption to hold positions in the Democratic Party of Kosovo and its leadership institutions.

Header The PDK has also confirmed that the ruling party will neither run nor support candidates of any political subject with confirmed charges.

“The PDK will not run persons who have charges that link with abuse of office, corruption, or nepotism in any public position. And neither will it support such candidates as can be proposed by other parties or citizens”, he said.

Wessel has also relieved all elected within PDK's ruling structures that have confirmed charges and that suspension of their functions, as he said, is valid until trial.

This decision does not prejudge their guilt and, with the outcome of the judgments, when they are free, all these persons will have the country deserved in PDK and institutions. Therefore, I have spoken with our party officials who have the indictment and have informed them of their release from official duties that have held”, Wessel said.

Header The PDK said at the news conference that nepotism and corruption have increased in our small country, and that it should change with a non-compromism fight against corruption and nepotisation.

The only way to ensure equal opportunities and hope for a better future for the next generation of young people is to wage a non-competitive fight against corruption and nepotism. And, we will fulfill our vision of Kosovo with equal opportunities for all, economically strong and without corruption”, Veselin said.
