In the vote, which took place in the Low Testament, attended by 313 party MPs, Johnson was succeeded by Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt by 46 votes.
Michael Gove, Environment Secretary, received 41 votes, International Development Secretary Rory Stewart secured 37 votes, Interior Secretary Sayid Javed 33 and Dominic Raab, former Secretary of Brexi, 30 votes, says Anadolu Agency (AA).
Johnson, Hunt, Gove, Stewart and Javed will pass to the next round expected to take place tomorrow.
With these results, Raab was eliminated from the race after receiving less than 33 votes, which is the threshold needed to pass through the next round.
Johnson will face four other candidates in the next round.
Johnson's 126 votes represent an increase of 12 votes from the number of votes it received in the first round, which was 114.
The former foreign secretary, as in the first round of votes, is the only candidate to have received over 100 votes.
If Johnson manages to preserve this lead and win in the final round, he will assume the post of Britain's next prime minister.
