Numerous citizens have taken to the squares celebrating the CHP candidate's victory.
“Justice, equality, love, tolerance will overcome arrogance and greed”, Imamoglu said.
“Istanbul is hosting a new start”
“Today, 16 million Istanbul citizens have demonstrated their belief in democracy and justice. I thank each of them”.
During his trip to Beylikduzu, where he was head of the district, numerous cars with menzi citizens have let him walk.
There, Imamoglu is expected to give a speech there too.
Otherwise Imamoglu has managed to defeat Erdogan's AKP in Istanbul for the first time after a quarter of the century. Imamoglu himself is a devout Muslim representing a secular party.
