The number of citizens who have come out to honour the double, whose decisions exactly 20 years ago led to Kosovo's liberation.
At the main rally in honor of Deliverance Day, Bill Clinton said,
I love it, I love this country, and it will always be the greatest honor in my life that I've ever stood with you against ethnic cleansing and freedom. I am very grateful to be here with many citizens who were part of that battle, but especially with Secretary Madeleine Albright and also General Wesley Clark. I remember the faces of the citizens when I met here 20 years ago at Ferizaj elementary school. That day I said, and I want to say the same thing today. 79 days of achieving peace, I know that in times of peace the most important is to consider what we should do next. You could say, yes, we did “ ”. It takes just one minute to think and remember that 30 years ago the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union fell, and all conflicts were falling down”, Clinton said.
Meanwhile Albright said:
The war in Kosovo has been a confrontation between barbarous killings and the necessary forces between rights, and respect for human rights between tyranny and democracy. We dominated because our alliance was united and strong. The most important thing was that we succeeded because our cause was right and because of the citizens of Kosovo beyond all tactics and policies questions. Our campaign was established and founded on the basis of righteousness. The united alliance sat and watched an entire community abused and banished, and the answer was: No. For more than 11 weeks, our alliance and Kosovo citizens were kept strong”, Albright stressed. /Periscopi/
