Greicevci: Kosovars oppose current dialogue, demand closure of process

According to Greicevci, these are the findings derived from research conducted by RIDEA, which has measured the perception of Kosovo citizens regarding the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, with which three potential scenarios for the dialogue process have been presented.

These scenarios are not that we invented them. It's the continuation of a two-year job. We've conducted about 150 interviews with decision-makers where we've identified three scenarios. Then these three scenarios we started testing with citizens”

The number of citizens who do not support dialogue has increased. However, the number of people who are declared against the continuation of dialogue at the same time is not about continuing the status quo”.

This is also reflected in the fact that these opposing citizens require something that is final that completes this process, not the unstoppable process that continues”.

The number of those opposed to dialogue is not necessarily against the agreement, but they are tired of a dialogue that started in 2011 and has not resulted in any results” has declared Greicevci in an interview in the Bank of Kosovo Zone B.

One of the scenarios presented in this research is the creation of the Association with Executive Competability, for which the number of Kosovo Serbs strongly reconciled to this scenario has undergone increases within five months (compared to researching RIDEA realised in December 2018).

“Serbs in southern Kosovo and the central part prefer association with the Executive Competability, while Serbs in the northern part simply don't care about association because they have other goals and” said Greicevci.

As for Albanians, he said they fear the creation of a Serbian republic-republishment, which according to him is real because “whether there will be an Association of Executive Competence will be the nucleus of a mini-republishing srpska”.

The third scenario, which speaks of the idea of redressing borders, has shown minimal value growth in supporting this idea.

The next finding of this study is also a reduction of confidence in the European Union in relation to the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

“We drop confidence in The EU has also influenced division. The EU is unable to speak in a voice. There is no common policy as far as the Kosovo-Serbia agreement is concerned, and people cannot trust an organisation that has no consistent policy as regards the Kosovo-Serbia Agreement”.

As far as confidence in the United States is concerned, according to Greicevci, the only way to reach a final agreement is by the US's greater commitment to the dialogue process.

While Kosovars still overwhelmingly agree with the idea of joining Albania, according to RIDEA research.

“Three factors influence increased preference for joining Albania. The first is that it's relatively hypothetical. Whether it can happen or not, it is not as if people's beliefs can be known today. Second when we talk about Kosovo- Albania people in general are emotional, and that the third time these two get together there are sensitivity and instability related to the dream of Albanians before the state of Kosovo is designed”.

The majority of people who are over 45 years old are those who are in favour of this” idea.
