Admiral James Foggo has declared that he does not know when Kosovo will join NATO, as according to him this is a political process.
He made these comments at the media conference after marking the 20th anniversary of KFOR's entry into Kosovo.
When it requires membership from any partner state or future allies such as northern Macedonia is the political process. It's something that needs to be discussed between Governments, so I don't know the answer, I think it's something the political side has to decide. As for the future of this state and other Balkan states, I think it is bright and welcoming Euro-Atlantic integrations. You should look west and I think you're looking at”, he said.
Asked about the possibility of reducing the number of KFOR troops in Kosovo, he said such a thing has not been envisioned for the time being.
Whatever changes in capacity or in the number of people on the ground depends on the conditions, and during future progress, we also see opportunities to pass responsibility for the safe and secure environment of other entities. But once for a time our number remains constant and we do not plan for changes. We even want to work with the level of preventatives, but for once in the foreseeable future, we don't see any changes”, he said.
Foggo has also been asked about co-operation with the Serbian Army so far, where he said they co-operate with all to ensure a quiet environment.
