In the coming days, temperatures are projected to be lower than those recorded on Friday but will still be above 40 degrees Celsius, mainly in some areas north of Spain.
Meteorologists say the hot air coming from Africa and high atmospheric pressure in Central Europe are contributing to the heat wave.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has registered on Saturday the hottest day of the year, with between 33 and 34 degrees Celsius.
