Voters will be able to head for the ballot boxes between 7:00 and 7:00 when the polls close.
The Socialist Party is determined that these elections will be held today, while the opposition, led by Democratic Leaders and the Socialist Movement for Integration, have abandoned the elections.
The united opposition has consistently called on citizens not to participate in the elections, since it claims that voters' thefts must first be punished, which they accuse Prime Minister Edi Rama of.
After many protests held by the opposition, President Ilir Meta has abolished the June 30th election decree, but the decision does not recognise Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Meta has also set 13 October as the date of the local elections, but still does not recognise Edi Rama.
The international community has called for elections to be held calm and have warned that violence will not be tolerated.
