Nearly 89% of Serbs oppose their country's possible NATO membership, according to a recent study by the Ninamedia agency in co-operation with the Atlantic Council of Serbia.
Serbs' opposition to the Atlantic Alliance is mainly linked to the world's most powerful military organisation's air campaign against former President Slobodan Milosevic's Serbia in the spring of 1999, to encourage Belgrade to withdraw troops from Kosovo, followed.
In polls conducted in mid-May and early June with a representation champion of 800 Serbian citizens, it appeared simultaneously that 73% of respondents did not know there has been war in any of the NATO member states since their membership in the Alliance since then.
