The UN's latest report shows that the globe today has 7.7 billion inhabitants, or triple the population it has had in 1950, when the United Nations starts drafting reports on its development prospects. The largest number of residents continue to have China at 1.4 billion, followed by India with 1,355 billion. At this rate, after 10 years, India is expected to rank at the top of the list, moving China to second place. Among the countries with the largest population are also the United States, Indonesia, Brazil, Russia, Mexico, Japan, the Philippines.
