A Turkish court issued verdicts Thursday on persons involved in the 2016 coup attempt.
The trial process against over 220 indictees was held within the mass prison complex near Ankara, built specifically to accommodate the suspects of the July 15th events three years ago.
The suspects, most of whom are serving sentences, are accused of using violence with the intention to bring down state power, the deaths of about 250 people, and the attempted murder of over 2,700 others.
Turkey's former air force commander and former President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's assistant, Akin Ozturk, along with 16 former senior army officers, received the most severe sentences, with 141 life sentences each for killing 139 citizens.
The court ordered the prosecution that the case of the Muslim cleric, Fetula Gylen, and the other organisers of the wanted military stamp be tried separately.
Günen himself is housed as a U.S. asylumr by the late 90s and has denied the charges against him.
In April, President Erdogan said a total of 20,000 people have been imprisoned or sentenced for the coup, while another 50 thousand have fled police, military, administration or justice system.
