Wessel has said that this statement given after meeting with Vuciqi testifies to Belgrade's lack of will for peace and good neighbourly relations.
He has called on internationals to pressure the implementation of agreements signed in Brussels.
Wessel's full reaction:
Warning the resignation of newly elected mayors of northern Kosovo municipalities is an innocent and harmful act that affects Kosovo's co-existence and stability. This statement, given by them after meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, again clearly testifies to Belgrade's lack of will to build peace and good neighbourly relations. In this case, I call on representatives of the European Union and other international partners to do the task taken as guarantor to pressure Serbia to implement the agreements signed in Brussels. Despite these provocations, I would like to stress that the Republic of Kosovo is a model state across Europe in terms of guaranteeing the rights of non-most communities and will insist that with the process of final dialogue, the problems of the past with Serbia, ensuring recognition and seating at the UN.
