He has signed an executive order effectively preventing American companies from using foreign telecoms, believed to pose a danger to US security, broadcast Koha.net.
Trump did not specify any foreign company on this issue.
However, analysts suggest this has been directed primarily towards the Chinese giant Huawei.
A number of countries have raised concerns that products of this company can be used by China for surveillance.
The Chinese company, which is the world's largest telecom equipment producer, has denied that its equipment poses any threat to spying or sabotage.
The move has been welcomed by the Federal Communications Commission.
