Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has met with ambassadors and chiefs of international offices and missions in Kosovo today to share opinions from the Berlin meeting and expectations for the meeting to be held in Paris.
Thaci said he has welcomed the return of Germany and France's attention to Western Balkan issues, in particular in the process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
“Vlerating the goodwill of Chancellor Merkel and the insistence of President Macro that the issues of the Western Balkans move forward”, President Thaci said.
Speaking of the Berlin summit, President Thaci stressed that the “meeting in Berlin neither closed nor opened any ideas or concept for the possibility of reaching the final Kosovo-Serbia” agreement.
The president also welcomed the request to continue dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia in search of a peaceful agreement, which for Kosovo must be final, legally binding agreement, bringing mutual recognition and membership to the United Nations.
The agreement that preserves the country's multiethnic substance and character of society, as well as paving the way for NATO and EU integration”, President Thaci said.
Similarly, the head of state stressed the importance of European Union member states, Western states in general, being more unique and clear in the process, particularly the five states of Quintus, the US, Great Britain, Germany, France and Italy.
“The experience of the near past shows that when this unity has worked, even the political scene in Kosovo has been unique and ready to move forward”, President Thaci said.
Before ambassadors and mission chiefs, President Thaci claimed he was surprised to the worse when he learned that there was no co-ordination for the Berlin meeting with the United States.
As the arrival of the Berlin summit, President Thaci praised the successful agreement of Kosovo and Serbia that, following President Macron's insistence, the next meeting in Paris will be held on July 1st.
“I hope that the meeting in Paris will be better prepared, that EU member states will be more unique, will present creative ideas as to how to move forward and that the meeting will have substance”, President Thaci said.
Speaking of Kosovo's participation in the July 1st meeting in Paris, the president indicated that Kosovo at this meeting will be unique and represented by institutional leaders, the State Delegation for Dialogue, and that the Kosovo delegation's platform at this meeting will be the Kosovo Assembly resolution.
For obstacles to the development of dialogue, President Thaci stressed that “will not allow dialogue to be conditioned by Serbia”, adding that the tax against Serbia's products will remain in force.
At the end of the meeting with ambassadors and chiefs of international missions in Kosovo, President Thaci stressed that disappointment at the Berlin summit has also been the non-entity of EU countries over visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens.
