He has said in KTV that the Serbian state is challenging Kosovo, but has added that despite the determined tax, no increased smuggling has been allowed.
“We have information that Serbia is helping the menus cross mountain roads, which are several roads per vehicle, not perhaps in heavy weights, but 5 or 6 tonnes can be passed over mountain roads”, he said.
According to him, this is mostly done by criminal groups aiming for greater profit with specific products, but because of the smuggling tax, it is intended to become more for food products, medicines and cosmetics as well.
According to him, there have been cases of smuggling when proven by other states to initially import into Macedonia and then through mountain roads to Kosovo.
He has said that in 2018 he had about 2m euros in counterfeit products. Here he pointed out that it is a special brand protection law and that it confirms whether the product is false. For 2019, the figure has amounted to one million euros.
According to him, over 2m euros of goods were confiscated in 2018.
Berisha has also said that more than ten Customs officials are in investigation.
