The Macron Party has 22.5% of the vote so far, while Le Pen's nationalists have 24%. In third place are “Greens”, which have 13% then conservatives and Socialists at 8% and 6.5%, respectively.
The result is a despair for Macro, who had campaigned long before the election began. The president needed this victory to increase his legitimacy as he and Germany seek an increase in integrity in the European Union.
In Germany, Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats have again come first, although this time it seems they will have fewer seats.
Meanwhile, even in Hungary, rightist parties have shown increased success. Fidesz, the party led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, has up to 56% of the vote. His opposing parties -- that of the leftist Democratic Coalition and Socialists -- have received only 10%. The party Jobbik, which is also of the extreme right, has 9%.
The final result of major international elections to come to an end remains to be seen. But so far it can be said that the European people have voted for leaders who have extreme political convictions and have anttagonistic attitudes towards immigrants and European institutions.
