KMDLNj: Close Dubrava detention unit

KMDLNj has demanded that the detention ward at the rectification centre in Dubrava should be closed urgently. At this centre it is said that there are approximately 35 to 40 detainees who cause many problems to this correctional institution, both during frequent escorts to court hearings and during delivery to regional hospitals and KKUKUK.

“Correcting centres are institutions where the almighty decisions of competent courts are implemented and there should not be detained here when extraordinary circumstances when detention capacity or overcrowding of detention centres are met, and that in Kosovo is unlikely to happen”, the KMDLNj statement said.

KMDLNj has also had remarks on the prison health service, which they claim despite continued efforts, never because of objective or subjectives, has managed to meet the demands and needs of persons deprived of freedom for a health treatment that is provided with international standards.

For the work of the Kusht Freedom Panel, KMDLNj says there are improvements, but it's far from being the main motivation for good behavior of persons deprived of freedom for the fact that there are criteria that have passed the time.

That the person has repented, the best measure and perhaps the only one is the conduct of convicts during the suffering of punishment and the acceptance of the narrowly related resocialization rate and perhaps the only factor, good conduct”, is said among other things in the KMDLNj statement.
