Syria News Agency, SANA gave no further details, but images of the explosion appeared on television, thought to have come from Israeli warplanes.

Syria's air defence, they say, has brought down several different objects.

Last month, SANA said an Israeli fighter plane had attacked Syrian Army positions in downtown Syria, when six soldiers were injured.

SANA adds that the attack came from Syria's southernmost region, where Israel is located.

Israel has yet to comment on Syria's reports and concerns.
