Northern Macedonia authorities and Interpol are involved in a deadlock over issuing an international warrant for former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
According to Minister Oliver Spasovski, through the Ministry of Justice all necessary documents have been submitted, and approval of the request is expected.
According to the minister, there are no legal obstacles, but prosecutor Vilma Ruskovska says that for two months the request has been pending, and Interpol refuses to issue international arrest warrant without any explanation.
Former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski fled to Hungary after a court sentenced him to two years in prison for illegally buying a luxury vehicle.
The Hungarian government of Prime Minister Orban has given him asylum status, while North Macedonia authorities continue to seek his extradition.
Nikola Gruevski must also respond to accusations of violent usurpation of parliament in Skopje in April 2017.
If convicted on such charges he could be sentenced to prison for up to 20 years.
