He even says the Greek prime minister has never proposed such meetings.
“Actually, before Tsypra came to power, I was engaged in intensive discussions with Mr. Papandreou, with whom I had 10 different meetings in this direction, but unfortunately, because of the Greek position or red lines, we did not reach the solution, which would later be put to a” referendum, Gruevski wrote on Facebook.
Gruevski says he had contacted Tsipras by phone in February 2015 to congratulate him when he was elected prime minister, and offered to talk about resolving the conflict, which Tsipras formally accepted, but he never responded later.
According to the former Macedonian prime minister, there are two reasons why he has not organised a meeting between him and Tsipras over the name dispute.
“Greece in 2015 was in deep economic and financial crisis, and that was their main problem, and the second reason was the political crisis in Macedonia”, Gruevski explains.
Gruevski emphasises that Tsipras has reason to be happy after under the Prespa Agreement, the Greek nation received much at the expense of Macedonia.
