The American Embassy in Pristina has sent a communiqué to the media in which it expresses concern over the appointment of unqualified persons to high government positions.
The communique says: The United States of America remains deeply concerned by the Kosovo government's move to appoint unqualified individuals to high government positions, including individuals convicted of war crimes, individuals under active indictment for serious crimes and suspected of serious abuse of office.
As it writes in the U.S. Embassy communiqué in democracy, individuals appointed to high-level positions must radiate ethical and qualified faces before the world; unfortunately Kosovo's example of appointments presents the opposite.
The unqualified <x0). The nomination of these disqualified individuals undermines the public confidence that Kosovo is trying to build, deprives the country of the possibility of having competent, famous and well qualified individuals to do government work and dishonors victims of past crimes of these individuals. It also prevents Kosovo's progress towards building the international level that would make it a desirable partner for other countries and strengthens the position of opponents who would claim Kosovo is not committed to the rule of law”, the communiqué says.
The communiqué writes that individuals should have the opportunity to rebuild their lives after these violations of the past, citing a claim by American lawyer and humanitarian Brian Stevenson. “Each of us is more than the worst thing we've ever done”.
But even as history recalls the positive contributions of individuals, as well as their failures, some behavior would have to disqualify an individual from the official position eternally: involvement in serious crimes would have to raise concerns about a person's adaptability at times to maintain such a 20/x1> position.
The US Embassy through this statement urges Kosovo citizens as well as its leaders to reflect what faces Kosovo wants to show the world.
“Call on Kosovo leaders to take this issue seriously and to stop and reverse this tendency to appoint individuals, some of whom the embassy has already mentioned by name, whose selection seems to advance short-term political goals rather than the legitimate needs of Kosovo citizens or the credibility of the state”.
