Residents of Morina village of Gjakova are opposing the main road, to take the name of Kosovo's great friend, Eliot Engel.
They say they have nothing against their friend, but they want this path to be called “7 July 1998”, the date that symbolizes the battle in this village.
The Assembly has once named this route “7 July 1998”, which included the approval of residents. This date is historical and we've washed it with blood this date. It was the most powerful battle in Dukagjin at the time. So we're unhappy with the assembly's decision to reappointed this” road, it says about RTV Dukagini Sadri Morina.
On the other hand, the head of the Communist Assembly of Gjakova Anton Shala, has said that road appointment has been made, in recognition of American friends. He added that “7's name July 1998” will be placed in another part of the village.
It is considered that this agreement at the Parliament of Gjakova has passed unanimously and therefore the road has taken that name. On the technical side, we have tried the same day to find another route where we will have the name “7 July 1998” but in the village of Morina... I'm guessing it won't be a problem”, Anton Shala said, follows the telegram.
The residents of this village have called on the leaders of the Gjakova municipality and asambitists to comply with the laws and regulations in power to reconsider the decision to appoint roads once more.
