Accreditation Agency member Xhavit Rexhaj has resigned from his position at the agency today. The reason for this is emerging was to praise the Democratic League of Kosovo. In the concrete case, he had said that the LDK is the best party in Kosovo and the region. But the Anti-Corruption Agency has reminded Rexhaj that the relationship to politics at the time it holds the position of an Agency member is a conflict of interest.
The news of his resignation has confirmed Rexhay himself. He has said the Anti-Corruption Agency has come out with a view that its ties to politics as a member of the Agency constitutes conflict of interest.
Yeah, it's true I quit. One of the reasons is my attitude for the LDK. The Anti-Corruption Agency has come up with a stance that is not allowed even to be a member of the Accreditation Agency, even in terms of political links”, Rexaj told Express.
He had recently decided not to vote on any decision by this institution until he will receive the interpretation of the Anti-corruption Agency for conflict of interest.
Express reported weeks earlier that Rexhaj had praised the Democratic League of Kosovo, saying this is the best party in Kosovo and the region and that it is political school for parties in the Balkans as well.
Rugovian vision can still lead Kosovo. The LDK has unsurpassed assets and values in the Transylvanian vision. We must take pride in him! There are patriotism, civilizational Euro-intensive values, discretion, leadership, dedication, courage, disparity, state, humanity... they're all there!”, wrote Rexaj, in FB.
Rexhaj is part of the Accreditation Agency, an independent body that oversees higher education in Kosovo. When the LDK led education in Kosovo, Rexhaj had advised Agim Veliun.
Whether there is any position in the LDK is known, though it has been part of the agency's expert group.
The Accreditation Agency was recently involved in a debate over some controversial decisions concerning higher education. All decisions made have been cancelled. They have yet to answer why this had happened.
