I'll win the 100-year-old race for local elections in Germany

For most people, reaching 100 years of life would be a good reason to take things easier. But Liesel Hayes has other ideas. The elderly German teacher, former exercise teacher, has started a new chapter in her life and is competing in the city council elections. [...]
It focused the campaign on reopening the public pool, which closed in 2011.
I got into politics so I could do something for young people. All good things are going away: pools are closing and they don't have a good place to spend time out of school”, says Lissel.
The elections are held on May 26th, and voters of this town with 80,000 inhabitants are beginning to hear the elderly candidate.
The elderly are often left in the shade. Makes a huge difference that she has the courage to say: There are also us here”, says Edelraut, a resident of the area.
Beyond local politics, the 100-year-old expresses opinions about what happens in the world.
“Brexit should never have had a platform. I find it wonderful that young people are trying to handle climate issues. I hope they get a lot of success in their” initiative, says Mrs. <x2)
Despite the outcome, Hayse has some advice for those who want to follow in her footsteps. To reach age 100, I advise you to live healthy while you're young, do sports, take good time and train your mind”
