In marking the 11th anniversary of the Constitutional Day of the Republic of Kosovo, President Hashim Thaci stressed that on the basis of this constitution, citizens are determined to build a secure future of Kosovo as a free, democratic and peace-loving country, which will be home to all its citizens.
President Thaci has listed the basic principles of the Kosovo Constitution, which must be respected, respectively, the full respect of rule of law through its legislative and executive institutions, sovereignty, equality before the law.
Kosovo's “Constitution clearly defines the foundation and frames of the state construction and its functioning. Even today, Kosovo vows to strengthen multiethnic society. A few months ago, our institutions implemented yet another constitutional and legal obligation, the establishment of the Kosovo Army as a multiethnic army and on the basis of NATO standards, which in the near future will function, not in a prior manner, but in every corner of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. This is a constitutional obligation, and I, as president of Kosovo, will be generally respected in my subsequent decisions. Also, I invite the Government of Kosovo, which saw hesitation and unequivocally, to respect legitimacy in every realm of institutional life, throughout Kosovo”, Thaci said.
He also ordered the government not to compromise with the law on behalf of ethnic affiliation or political daily duality so that all are equal before the law
