The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, through a Facebook post, has said that he has taken news of the death of former US Senator Richard Lugar, Kosovo's great friend.

Otherwise, former US senator from the Republicans' ranks Richard Lugar has changed lives today at 87.
His non-profit organisation, the Lugar Centre, said he died of complications from chronic inflammatory polynapyropy, an illness that attacks nerves.
Lugar served in the Senate from 1977-2013 and was well-known as an authoritarian voice for US foreign policy.
Serving as head of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations twice from 1985-1987 and 2003-2007 he was an open opponent of the apartheid in South Africa and nuclear weapons.
